If you are not aware, there have been a number of changes as the Rockdale R0d & Gun club moves into 2020, with new leadership and and the transition to Facebook to help us better communicate with our members.
Moving forward, we will be using the new Rockdale Rod &Gun Club Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/rockdalerodandgunclub/) and email to modernize our communications. Please join us there and make a request to join the private group; one of the FB admins will verify your membership and approve your request.
We have scheduled the following weekday evenings at the America Legion in Rockdale for members to process 2020 membership renewals.
– Monday Meeting 2/10/2020 7:30 – …
– Wednesday 2/12/2020 7PM-8PM
– Friday 2/21/2020 7PM-8PM
We are working on scheduling another weekend afternoon renewal drop-off at the Riverdale St. range entrance. We’re tentatively looking at next weekend, either Feb. 15 or 16th. I will make further announcements when we confirm the schedule for next weekend’s date.
Pheasant Hunting Dates will be as follows-
Oct 27th. 10 additional Chukars will also be stocked
Nov 17th. 10 additional Chukars will also be stocked
The new locks and keys have arrived!!! Norman Wood will be down at the rifle range for the next two Saturdays from 9am till 12 to exchange out keys and answer any membership questions. I will be down at the rifle range from 12 until 3pm for the next two Sundays to exchange keys. Please have your 2018 membership card with you so we can verify current membership. We are planning on double locking the gates for the next couple weeks until all the current members have the new keys and then getting rid of the old locks. Please reach out to any members that you know of that don’t have email addresses and spread the word about the new locks.
Dear Club Member,
We will be having a Clean-up day on Saturday, April 14th at 9:30 AM. We will need Members to help with the clean-up. Please bring your racks, trimmers and any other tools that you think will be helpful to do the clean-up with.
We will be stocking the pond on April 25th between 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. We need people to help put the fish into the pond. If you are able to help it will be greatly appreciated. The club pond will be closed April 25th thru the 27th. We will reopen the pond on Saturday, April 28th at 8:00 AM when we will have opening day.
THERE WILL BE NO FISHING BEFORE 8:00 AM. Remember to wear your club pin and that we have a four (4) fish per day and eight (8) fish per week limit. Remember you must keep the trout that you catch. This is not a catch and release pond. Any other species of fish caught may be release back into the pond if you so wish.
Children may fish under the members badge up threw the age of fourteen but only one pole may be used at a time.
As we start off 2018, it was decided to cancel the February meeting and reconvene March, 12th. Please note that all membership renewals should be sent to Norman Wood, our new Membership Chairman, and not to Jerry C., nor to the P.O. Box.
Happy New Year, and we hope everyone can enjoy staying nice and warm at home next month instead of braving the elements to attend a brief, prefunctory meeting.
This letter is very important. Please take the time to read it.
Effective January 1st, 2018, Jerry Clark will no longer be the Membership Chairman. Due to his health and all the other things that Jerry does for the Club, he felt that he just had to give up being the membership chairman.
The club would like to thank Jerry for the many years that he held the position of Membership Chairman and for all the hard work he has done and continues to do for the club.
The new Membership Chairman is Norman Wood, and the Club thanks Norman for volunteering to fill this important position. Norman’s address has been added to the Club Officers page.
Club dues must be paid between January 1, 2018 and March 1, 2018. Please note that anyone paying their dues /after/ March 1, 2018 will be assessed a late fee of $20 in addition to the $65 membership renewal, and may be placed on a waiting list.
Please send all club dues and other membership communication to Norman Wood, and DO NOT SEND ANY TO JERRY CLARK. Along with your club dues, please include your E-MAIL ADDRESS. Thee club is trying to setup everyone’s email address in a file so that instead of communicating via slow mail, we can communicate via e-mail. This will save the club money by not having to purchase stamps, envelopes, and address labels as well as the work that goes into getting the newsletter mailed out. Your cooperation in this effort will be greatly appreciated.
Yours in sportsmanship,
David A. Jessing, Secretary
We’ve battened down for winter, and will be handling membership renewals in the next few weeks. Please remember that all current members who wish to renew at the $65/year rate, must submit their membership renewals to the new Membership Committee Chairman (Woody) before March, or you will be asked to pay the full $85 annual fee.
We are currently working to procure new keys, and will be providing them to new and returning members shortly.
We will be posting further updates here regarding the changes in the RRGC’s Executive Board from the November elections and asking folks to provide their email addresses so we can look at using email instead of forcing Dave to battle with labels in Microsoft Word.
In other news, the club voted to replace the old plywood pheasant cages with new plastic ones that should be easier to clean and maneuver around when it comes time to stock for next Fall.
– Happy Holidays
(UPDATE: We’ve gotten a soft quote for new padlocks and keys, waiting on formal quote(s) so we can pick an option and place the order. stay tuned)
Thanks to everyone who showed up to help with some spring cleaning last weekend and stocking the pond on Wednesday. The fishing area is looking good and we discussed getting some new heavy-duty picnic tables. We look forward to seeing everyone at the upcoming meeting. More details soon.
